Sprained Wrists

At Action Rehab we are specialised in the treatment of sprained wrists in addition to a variety of different injuries such as De quervain’s tendonitis, carpal tunnel syndrome, and tennis elbow.

We are able to provide advice and education with regards to your injury and provide suitable treatment which may include advice, splinting, and strengthening exercises.

de Quervains Tenosynovitis

Characterised by painful inflammation of the sheath of the tendons that extend and move your thumb to the side. Therapists at Action Rehab can rest the wrist in a splint and teach stretches and strengthening to prevent injury. Our services include orthotics, massage, modification of activities of daily living, and strengthening.

carpal tunnel syndrome causing wrist injury

This is a free service where you will have a consultation with our senior therapist, Ben Cunningham. In this appointment Ben will advise management strategies and if you request ongoing care then this will be charged as per our current rates. Worksafe and TAC clients will not be charged personally for any consultations.

Broken Wrist

Also referred to as Colles’ or Smith’s fracture, this injury is often associated with shortening of the radius. If the fracture occurs close to the wrist this can alter the alignment of the joint, causing pain and loss of function.

Treatment includes immobilising of the wrist for approximately 6 weeks. Action Rehab can fabricate a thermoplastic fracture brace for this purpose. The benefit of this is that the brace is able to get wet, which makes day to day activities much easier than a conventional plaster or fibreglass cast. Post removal of the splint Action Rehab will help the patient to achieve full range of motion and strength.
