The Elbow – Assessment and Treatment
This workshop will assist with clinical reasoning of elbow injuries and pathology. We will discuss fractures, dislocations, ligament injuries and conditions of the elbow. We will examine the mechanism of injury, the anatomy, biomechanics and healing of common elbow pathologies. The workshop is aimed at a medium to advanced level. It will take an in depth look at a broad range of elbow conditions, including but not limited to, fractures and dislocations of the elbow, throwers elbow, lateral epicondylagia (tennis elbow), radial head injuries and golfers elbow. Splinting, exercise and taping for the conditions will be demonstrated. X-rays, CT and MRI relevant to the conditions will be read and interpreted in an interactive and open discussion. This course is suitable for Hand Therapists, Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists working in hospitals, private practice or community settings treating and assessing elbow conditions. An understanding of elbow anatomy will be assumed.
